Tried Tawook Nation for late lunch today. I had the Tawook Skewers Platter delivered to DIC by 3pm but got the food at a little over half past 3. Not really sure what happened here because I didn't get any calls about my order arriving late.
A huge miss for a delivery-only service, I must say. The taste and quality of the food, however, made me forget about the waiting time.
The Tawook Skewers Platter comes with 2 charcoal grilled tawook skewers, a choice of seasoned fries or veggies, plus hummus and garlic dip.
The fries came in a paper canister on a separate brown bag, there were separate plastic containers for the hummus and garlic dip, and the grilled tawook skewers were laid on a bed of 3 Lebanese breads in an aluminum container inside a box. Neat packaging!
The fries were seasoned with what I can taste as zaatar; crispy and a little salty, it went well with the garlic dip! The tawook skewers come in tender bite sized pieces. Each bite gives out a burst of flavors–a combination of tangy and smokey-charred flavors being the most evident.
I enjoyed eating it with the rich and velvety hummus and fresh tasting bread. Give me their hummus and Lebanese bread and I'm good to go!
For it's price (48 AED) and serving, I initially thought it was a rip off. But after downing a piece of bread with hummus, 3 tawook chunks (there were around 11), and some fries and dip; I was already full! There was still enough of each item left, so I just brought it home for Mark.
I reckon an untouched platter would be filling enough for a growing boy like Mark, but it can also be shared between two non-big eaters; so it's also a steal after all. Hopefully they can improve on the delivery time. ;)
