buzBOX Scrambles

I've been dying to know how ice scramble tastes like. I never got to taste this very famous treat because most people say that street foods are dirty. My mom would also not allow us to buy street foods especially after my siblings got sick of Hepatitis (when they were like 5 or 6 years old) after eating barbecue in some barbecue stand in the streets. And so I grew up not having to experience eating ice scramble and well, street foods in general.

I remember how envious I get every time I see kids piling up whenever they see the ice scramble vendor coming. My mom would always say that there's nothing really special about it, it's just crushed ice with pink food coloring, powdered milk, and chocolate syrup. But it seems that children and adults alike are drawn to it so much.

And so when I found out that ice scrambles are now being sold in malls, I immediately told Mark that we should try it. He was able to find one stall at SM North but we never got the chance to get there.

We were in SM Taytay to buy some presents for my mom's birthday, when I and my sister came across this cute pink food cart with people in a long queue. My eyes sparkled when I learned that it was an ice scramble food cart!

We ordered the large cup and had all 4 toppings added haha! I immediately fell in love with it at first my scoop! It tasted like bubble gum and vanilla and I just love how refreshing it was. *drools*

buzBox Scrambles come in 3 sizes: small for Php10, medium for Php14, large for Php 14; with powdered milk and chocolate and strawberry syrup; plus Php3 for every additional topping of chocolate sprinkles, candy sprinkles, rice crispies, and marshmallows.

I finally got to taste ice scramble! Yipee! :p I also bought one for my brother and my mom and they loved it too. My mom said that it's just like the ones sold in streets but a lot tastier because it has more milk and toppings. :)

Here's my sister Gia loving the buzBOX Scrambles!

Just Like the Old Times at The Old Spaghetti House

Mark accompanied me to the dentist for my dental checkup last Saturday (July 25). We also planned of going to the gym for some workout. But before hitting the gym, we first had a luscious lunch at The Old Spaghetti House. Haha!

It took me some time choosing from the menu, until I finally decided to try the Swiss Mushroom Chicken with Creamed Fettuccine. The generous amount of pasta cooked al dente with a generous amount of creamy sauce was not superb, but I just love how the chopped parsley, parmesan cheese, and ground pepper gave the pasta its distinct taste. The Swiss Mushroom Chicken was what I loved the most! The melted mozzarella with Swiss mushroom gravy on top of the grilled chicken breast fillet was oh so delicious! The dish also came with a slice of garlic bread and a salad of fresh lettuce with fried shoestring potatoes seasoned with apple cider vinegar. ♥♥♥

Mark just had a quick glance at the menu and already knew what he wanted. He ordered for their Classic Lasagna. I got to taste it and it was so good! It was like a mixture of tastes of spaghetti, lasagna, and pizza. :p The serving was generous too. :)

Sunday Merienda at Shakey's

We were on our way home, from a family lunch at Tita Tessa's house last Sunday, when my dad noticed that Jaoey was kinda sad. When asked what seems to be his problem, Jaoey said that he was hungry. And when asked what/where he wanted to eat, he blurted out "Shakey's"!

We were still full from our lunch so we just had a light snack. We had a Basket of Mojos. The breaded potato slices were really mouthwatering. It just had the right amount of saltiness. It also comes with 2 dips, garlic mayo and sour cream.

Basket of Mojos - Php 204

We also had our all-time favorite Thin Crust Manager's Choice pizza. The pizza was a hit for all of us. I love how crispy the crust was. Unlike pan pizzas, you'll surely get to savor the flavorful toppings of thin crust pizzas.

Thin Crust Manager's Choice - Php 440 (Party)

Jaoey had a separate order, a regular thin crust Classic Cheese pizza. He was really hungry that he was able to consume 4 slices! :D

Thin Crust Classic Cheese - Php 121 (Regular)

We also got to avail of the Shakey's Skimmer Hat for Php 35. It also comes with a coupon which entitles the holder a free Regular Hawaian Delight Thin Crust pizza with a minimum purchase of Php 350 on his next visit. Cool! :)

I just had to tell though, the service was very slow! We had to follow up for our orders a couple of times. Nevertheless, we still enjoyed our merienda. Just like what I've said in a previous post, we grew up eating at Shakey's. It is definitely a family favorite!

Dinner at Hap Chan Tea House

We left the house early last friday and just had a quick brunch since we were scheduled for our passport renewal in DFA at 1:30 pm.

We finished the renewal around 3pm, just in time for merienda. From DFA, we stopped over at McDonald's Libis for merienda. Jaoey was so hungry that he ate a lot! :p

Jaoey's merienda: Chicken w/ Spaghetti, Large Fries, Hot Fudge Sundae, and Royal Freeze

We headed next to Sta. Lucia East mall and shopped for some stuffs. Dinner time came and we all agreed to have dinner at Max's but the place was jam-packed! After trying our luck in 3 different Max's branches (Sta. Lucia, Ortigas Ave., and Antipolo) we failed and finally just settled for Hap Chan Tea House.

I was still full from our merienda so I just had Wanton Noodle Soup for dinner.

Wanton Noodle Soup - Php 89 (Small)

Gia wasn't also that hungry so she just had congee.

Pork with Century Egg Congee - Php 120 (Large)

Next on the table was the Crispy Fried Chicken, which is Jaoey's favorite. We would usually peel off the skin and reserve it for him. The well-seasoned crispy chicken skin and tender and juicy meat always never fail to satisfy Jaoey's chicken craving. This delectable dish also comes with shrimp crackers.

Hap Chan Crispy Fried Chicken - Php 240

Another dish was the Mixed Meat Canton. It had squid, pork, beef, mushrooms, and veggies in it. This, too, is Jaoey's favorite, but he would usually set aside the meat and veggies and would eat just the noodles haha! :p

Mixed Meat Canton - Php 185

We also had the Lumpiang Shanghai. The rolls weren't oily and the pork was tender and seasoned just right. It was made more delectable by the sweet and spicy dip that came with it.

Lumpiang Shanghai - Php 210

The Yang Chow Fried Rice was good too. It has a generous amount of shrimps, minced pork, and veggies. This will never be out of the list whenever we dine at Hap Chan, and Chinese restos in general.

Yang Chow Fried Rice - Php 190

We've been to Hap Chan before and would usually indulge in their mouth-watering Dimsums, but we were all still full from merienda so we just had the Chicken Feet.

Chicken Feet - Php 80

Daddy also ordered the Jumbo Siopao which had everything in it, as the waitress claimed. It had pork, sausages, and salted eggs as its filling. It wasn't that bad (though not spectacular either). My dad ate only half of it and had the other half wrapped since he was already full.
