Jonathan's Despedida

Went on a night out with my high school friends last September 25 for a despedida-get-together for Jonathan, he will be leaving for Dubai this coming Wednesday. I don't know but aside from people getting engaged or getting married, another thing that seems to have become a growing trend is people having to go abroad, just like Mark. *sigh*

Arriane was the one who planned for the despedida. It was supposed to be a surprise, until a few minutes before the get-together, when someone accidentally sent a text message to Jonathan's mobile! *ehem* *ehem* hehe..Love you Majoy! :p

Majoy, Arriane, and I at Coffee Place

After meeting up at Coffee Place in Antipolo, we went next to Kopi Kopi in Village East Cainta to meet with Cathlyne.

My Favorite Hat

I immediately fell in love with White Hat on my first try. And since then, I began craving for more! :)

But I don't always get to satisfy my craving for White Hat as much as I want since there aren't any branches near our home. And so I make sure to always give in to my cravings whenever I can. :)

Just like last Saturday, when I had a movie date with my friends Karen and Alvin at Trinoma. Karen and I decided to catch up while waiting for Alvin to arrive. And is there any better way to have it than having it over a cup of White Hat frozen yogurt?

No matter how I dress my hat--may it be just plain yogurt; or topped with cheesecake, blueberries, and almonds; or with my favorite toppings: kiwi, mangoes, and strawberries--it just never fails to take all my sadness away. :)

My Favorite Hat: Large Frozen Yogurt with Kiwi, Mangoes, and Strawberries

And now it got me all craving for White Hat again! *drools* Good thing they will soon be opening up a branch at Gateway mall, which means that I'll get to enjoy my favorite hat very often! Yipee!

Positively Posh

Went out last Saturday with my sister Gia. Went to Posh Nails to have our nails done.

Gia and I immediately fell in love with the place the moment we entered the shop. There were Pink and Purple things all over the place, from the walls, pillows, and stools, to tabletop decors, lamps, and the attendants' aprons. :)

I ♥ Pink!!!

Purple, Gia's favorite color :)

DSC09644I want to take home this cute pink lamp! :D

Aside from the cute interior, the service was good as well. We were greeted with a smile by the receptionist who led us to the couch. Gia and I chose the Posh Grooming.

POSH GROOMING
HANDS - manicure + massage - Php 150
FEET - pedicure + massage - Php 215

Pillows and towels were laid the moment we were seated on the couch, then a warm foot bath and scrub was done, as we chose the color of the nail polish that we want.

Two nail technicians were attending to each customer, one who does the manicure, and one for the pedicure. We really felt like we're princesses! Haha!

A massage was also done after the manicure and pedicure, before finally putting on the nail polish, and then the quick dry spray. Such a posh way to pamper our hands and feet. :)

They have a wide variety of branded nail polish colors to choose from. Gia chose red while I chose pink. :)

Pink for me and Red for Gia

We then stayed for a moment and took some photos while waiting for our nails to dry. :)

Eid al Fitr

Eid al Fitr, often abbreviated to Eid, is a Muslim holiday that marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting. Eid is an Arabic word meaning "festivity", while Fiá¹r means "to break fast"; and so the holiday symbolizes the breaking of the fasting period.
~ Eid ul-Fitr Muslim Festival

Since the Philippines is also composed of Muslim Filipinos, September 10 was declared a holiday to give way for the celebration of our Muslim brothers. And is there a better way to celebrate this holiday than to have a scrumptious feast with the whole family?

First on the table was the classic Tokwa't Baboy. It's pork ears and tofu in vinegar and soy sauce, drizzled with minced onions. This is a perfect partner for the Lugaw (rice porridge). :)

Tokwa't Baboy: Pinoy Style

My dad also made the Chinese Style Tokwa't Baboy. Ingredients are basically the same with the classic style, it's just that this one's sautéed in garlic and onions with daddy's special chinese style sauce recipe. ;)

Tokwa't Baboy: Chinese Style :p

We also had Pork Steak with fried potato wedges for a more delectable twist. :) This is one of Mark's favorite and I'm sure they don't have this in Qatar! Haha! :p

Pork Steak

We usually pair the Pork Steak with camote tops with onion and tomatoes, drizzled with vinegar. :)

Camote Tops Salad

My dad also cooked Escargot, or Kuhol as what we all know, in coconut milk. I love this dish. It's also fun to eat, you have to sip through the end of the shell first to remove all the air inside, and then sip through the open part to get the meat. If you're good enough you can get the meat instantly, but you can always use a toothpick if the meat doesn't come out hehe.. :p

Escargot in Coconut Milk

The meal will not be complete without soups and veggies so we also had Sinigang na Hipon at Maya-maya.

Shrimp and Maya-maya Sinigang

Nope, we're not Muslims, we're a Catholic family, but who said that only Muslims can celebrate this holiday? Haha! :)

Happy Eid al Fitr to all our Muslim brothers! :)

Sunday Crab Feast

On our way home after hearing mass last Sunday, my dad decided that we drive around town first while thinking of what to have for lunch. A street vendor with huge bayongs caught his attention. The man was selling crabs! :D So he called the vendor and we pulled over.

The vendor said that the crabs were from Bulacan and guaranteed that they were all meaty. He also gave his number and said that we can return the crabs if we find them not meaty. My dad must have been moved by the vendors flowery words that he bought all of his crabs which weighed up to 4.5 kilos! And viola! We already know what to have for lunch! :)

Crabs in Coconut Milk, not cooked yet, still need a little more simmering :)

Crabs in Coconut Milk, ready for eating! *drool*

I'm sure you all know how my family loves to eat crabs! We usually have crabs during weekends when the family's all complete. :)

Here's daddy being so excited to lay his hands on the crabs haha!

Here's my sister Gia, who immediately chose her crab after we finished praying haha! :p

The crabs were so delish! And so meaty just like what the vendor said.

Crab claws! My favorite! ♥♥♥

My dad also paired the crabs with this yummy dish.

Eggplant, Okra, Squash, and String Beans in Coconut Milk

My dad cooked all the crabs so it was a crab-all-you-can lunch for us! *burp* Can you guess where my plate is? Haha! :p

Sunday Crab Feast: The Aftermath haha!

We already ate a lot but we still had a few more left. :)

Thank God for a wonderful lunch! Every meal really becomes more enjoyable when shared with the whole family! :)
