Digital Masterpieces of a 5th Grader

In a previous post, I already expressed how I really love drawing and sketching ever since I was a kid. And how I was able to draw in MS Paint, during my elementary years, even before stylus pens and digital drawing tablets were ever created.

Maybe most of you were thinking that I was just making up stories, but now I finally got proofs! :D Thanks to my mom, she was able to keep the hard copy of my digital masterpieces haha!

Copied and sketched this Betty Boop image from a stationery design. :) As a kid, I was fascinated by Betty's sexy body and wished to have curves like hers too haha!

Also from a stationery, I got this Winnie the Pooh image. Yup I have a lot of different stationery designs. This was when I wasn't into Hello Kitties yet. :p

My dad always says that I have a good photographic memory. And these next ones are another proof. :p I did these without something to copy from.

This is one of my favorite cartoon characters when I was growing up. I remember wanting to finish my dinner immediately just to catch The Little Lulu Show in HBO. :p

I also got fascinated with these cute Japanese furry balls. I always go home immediately after school just to watch Mojacko. And of course, there's no arguing who among the three I love the most. Mojari's just sooooo adorable! :D

Can you remember who this cartoon character is?

drawing_lolobusinessman

I'm sure you don't because I just made this one up haha! As a kid, it was how I envisioned what a businessman looked like hahaha! :p

Nice masterpieces huh?! Not bad for a 5th grader right? :p I also remember ending up sketching when I'm bored. Oh how I miss drawing! Hmmmm...maybe I should focus on my artistic side and pursue a different career?! Hahahah! :p

Mongkok

Went to The Medical City at Sta. Lucia East Grandmall with my mom, dad, and Jaoey for another check-up with my Gastroenterologist and OB-Gyne last Saturday. We strolled around and shopped and then had lunch at Mongkok.

Jaoey wanted fried chicken, as always, so we got Mongkok's Fried Soy Chicken. The chicken was cooked just right, it was crispy and juicy. Tasted like Max's. :)

Fried Soy Chicken (half) - Php 240

Daddy wanted some soup so we got the Seafood Noodle Soup. There was a generous amount of shrimps and cream dory fillets in the soup. The noodles were also good, even Jaoey liked it. :)

Seafood Noodle Soup - Php 140

Mommy and I then took charge of the dimsum. :) She chose chicken feet, while I got Siomai and Hakao. :p

The Chicken Feet was ok. The chicken was tender, it also had a distinctn taste which I believe came from the bell pepper.

Chicken Feet with Taosi - Php 75

Siomai will always be in our order whenever we dine at Mongkok, or at any Chinese restos. Perfect as appetizer, it also goes well with the Yang Chow Fried Rice.

Mongkok Siomai - Php 75

The Hakao is another hit for us. I love the crunchiness and sweetness of the shrimps. This too is one of my favorites! :D

Hakao - Php 75

And of course, the meal will not be complete without the Yang Chow Fried Rice. It had a generous amount of shrimps, eggs, and ham I think. :p It's not the best yang chow ever, but our family simply loves it. :)

Yang Chow Fried Rice (small) - Php 150

Mongkok is one of the restaurants that we frequent. This actually is one of my daddy's favorite restaurants. And as always, we again got out of Mongkok happy and satisfied. :)

Daddy Cooks: Crispy Pata

Crispy Pata is another dish that my dad does very well. And this of course, is one of my family's favorites too! :p

Unlike other crispy pata recipes which take at least a day for the preparation itself plus an hour or two for the actual cooking, my dad's crispy pata is not just delectable but is very easy to prepare and cook as well. :)

Crispy Pata

Ingredients:
pork pata (front or hind pork legs with knuckles)
garlic, crushed
onions, minced
salt and pepper to taste
water for boiling
cooking oil for frying

Preparation and Cooking Procedures:
Clean the pork by removing all the hair. You may use a knife to scrape the hair. My mom also rubs rock salt into the pork to remove its stinky smell. Wash the pork with running water.

In a pressure cooker, put water just enough to submerge the pork and add in crushed garlic. Add salt and pepper to taste. Cook the pork for 45 minutes. You may cook it longer to make the pork more tender. :) Drain and set aside.

Nice and tender pork pata. :) Ready for frying!

Put cooking oil in a frying pan over high heat. Make sure the oil is hot before putting in the pork. Adjust the burner to low heat and cover pan immediately after putting the pork. Cook pork until golden brown. You will need to turn the pork over for it to be evenly cooked. Cooking time is around 15-20 minutes, or until the pork is golden brown. Drain, serve, and enjoy! :)

For a more delectable treat, you may have it dipped in vinegar with soy sauce, minced onions, sugar, and pepper; or in Mang Tomas lechon sauce. :)

Miguelito's Fried Ice Cream

I was accompanied by my mom, Jaoey, and Chino to The Medical City in Ever Gotesco mall in Ortigas for some lab tests and check up with my Gastroenterologist and OB-Gyne last Thursday.

We strolled around the mall after and saw this cute ice cream stand. Miguelito's Fried Ice Cream, well fried ice cream in general, has been out in the market for so long, but it was just last Thursday when I finally got to try it. :p

Here's Jaoey figuring out what flavor to get. :p

Just like any other ice cream, there were a number of flavors to choose from, the main difference is they come in powdered form. The powder is blended with water and then "cooked" on a cold pan.

It is then spread out into a large, thin round shape.

Once the mixture freezes, it will be scraped into rolls and placed in a cup.

Here's Jaoey carefully watching the ice cream being 'fried'.

You then get to choose syrup and toppings to go with your fried ice cream. We got the P25 cup which consist of 1 ice cream flavor plus syrup and a choice of topping. Jaoey loves chocolate ice creams so he chose chocolate flavor with chocolate syrup.

Jaoey's cup

I, being not so adventurous when it comes to trying out new tastes, also chose chocolate flavor with chocolate syrup plus choco candy sprinkles. :p

My cup

Chino chose the melon flavor with chocolate syrup and marshmallows.

We all agreed that the fried ice cream was good. It was creamy and tasty (at least just for the flavors that we got) and, though it may not be very much like the ice creams that we grew up with (like Nestle's or Selecta's), Miguelito's Fried Ice Cream definitely satisfied our sweet tooth. ^_^

After 6 Months...

...I got to eat at World Chicken again! I also got to go out on a food trip again! But this time, with my food-trip-buddy-for-the-mean-time, my sister Gia. :p

Was off from work because of headache and abdominal pains so I was accompanied by Gia to Clinica Manila in SM Megamall last Monday for my check up. We shopped around after the checkup and headed to the food court in time for merienda.

If you've been reading my posts, I'm sure you already know how World Chicken has become one of my favorites because of Mark, and how we both love having food trips together. :) Since Mark left, last Monday was my first time to eat at World Chicken again, and my first time to go out on a food trip again after 6 months!

And of course, I got what I used to order when Mark was still here.

Grilled Chicken Fillet with Gravy, Fettuccine Al Tono and Potato Salad - Php 152

Since it's Gia's first time to try World Chicken, she also chose to get what I got.

World Chicken First-Timer :p

Gia enjoyed her meal as much as I did, she was just not able to finish everything because we already had this mouth-watering roast beef wrap minutes before we headed to World Chicken. :p

Let me just say that this shawarma was just so delish! The beef slices were tender, the pita bread and veggies were all fresh, and the creamy cheese sauce, oh! And now I'm craving for it! For me Fireshack's is the best shawarma ever! *drools*

Fireshack Shawarma - Php 45

We also got these Kit Kat chocolate bars for free (2 Kit Kat chocolate bars for every Php200 worth of treats at the food court). :D

We both enjoyed our merienda. Not only are World Chicken and Fireshack Shawarma such delicious treats, they actually made me miss Mark even more! Can't wait for my original food trip buddy to be back home! :p

Caress Sea Pink

Just wanna share my new find: Caress Sea Pink nail polish. :)

Saw this earlier at a mall and I immediately fell in love with it. :p I actually love this more than Chic's Neon Fuchsia.

I immediately applied it on my nails when we got home. :p I applied 3 coats of the Caress Sea Pink nail polish and a colorless polish as top coat. Here are my Sea Pink nails. ^_^
