Summit Ridge Hotel: Restaurant, Gym, and Swimming Pool

Our accommodation at Summit Ridge Hotel includes a breakfast buffet for two and a complimentary use of their gym and swimming pool.

C2 Classic Cuisine, which is at the ground floor of the hotel, was were the buffet breakfast was served. The food choices weren't that extensive but they were definitely an eye candy.  The omelette section was what welcomed us as we entered the restaurant.  There were bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, olives, and parmesan cheese which guests may freely choose for their omelette. Since I don't know which to choose, I just had the staff choose everything for my omellete. :p

Omelette Section

Starting the long buffet table is a salad and soup section and at the far end is the waffles and pancakes section.  The soup of the day was egg drop soup while the salad section includes lettuce, onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, and bell peppers, and a choice of Asian or Caesar dressings.

Salad and Soup Section

The waffles and pancakes section of course had pancakes and waffles with a choice of preserved strawberries, chocolate syrup, maple syrup, preserved cherries, and butter for the toppings.

Waffles and Pancakes Section

On each side of the buffet table is where the main course for the breakfast buffet are located.  There was a choice of American and Filipino-style dishes.

American-style breakfast: Plain Rice, Spicy Sausages, and Bacon

Filipino-style breakfast: Fried Rice, Fried Dried Fish, Sweet Longganisa

At the far end of the buffet is the breads section with a variety of breads, from pandesal to wheat breads, and a choice of unsalted butter, butter with pineapple, butter with herbs, and cream cheese for the spreads.

Breads Section

There was also a section for the fruits, cereals, and drinks.

Pineapples, Bananas, Watermelons, and Oranges

Cereals

Mango, Pineapple, and Orange Juice

We actually got disappointed early on with C2 when we had their welcome drinks when we arrived at the hotel.  It was complimentary and the serving was generous, yes, but their orange juice and mango juice just didn't taste good. Mark even said it tasted like cough syrup.

We were really hoping that the breakfast would redeem C2, but for the second time, it failed. They served the same set of drinks, and although we still haven't tried their pineapple juice, Mark and I just opted for their service water.

I got their egg drop soup which tasted literally like hot water sprinkled with pepper.  It was just so bland. A little salt would make it taste better I think.

Egg Drop Soup

I drooled when I saw the waffles so I got myself a serving. Unfortunately, it just looked good. I'm not sure if it was just because they were exposed, but the waffle was a bit hard and grainy. I loved the preserved strawberries though.

Mark got some bacon which he paired with toasted wheat bread and some spreads.  I always thought that one could never go wrong with bacons, but that was not the case in C2. Their bacon wasn't oily, yes, but neither was it juicy. It was overcooked, dry, and a bit stiff. The wheat breads and cream cheese were okay though.

I wasn't able to finish my food, I had not eaten even half of it, but I still went back to the buffet table.  Based on Mark's reaction, bacon was definitely out of my choices. I was never a fan of sweet longganisa and I only like dried fish like danggit and dilis, so I just got myself a slice of wheat bread, omelette, and sausages.

I didn't know that the sausages were spicy until I took a bite of it. Not being a fan of spicy dishes, this was definitely a bad choice for me. :(  The omelette on the other hand was okay, though it was a little sweet for my palates.

Although our dining experience at C2 was a downer, Mark and I still enjoyed our stay at the hotel.  We got to enjoy their amenities like their gym and swimming pool.  At the second level of the hotel is their gym which is spacious and well organized. Though not that complete, the gym at least had the basic equipment and machines for cardio exercises and muscle toning workouts.

It is equipped with air-conditioning system although you may always choose to open the sliding windows and feel the cool breeze of Tagaytay. Since there were no guests when we hit the gym, Mark and I got the gym all to ourselves and spent an hour and a half shedding off some pounds. :p

Also at the second floor is the Seri Asia Spa and Wellness center where guests may avail of a relaxing massage and spa services. In-room massage service may also be arranged.

They also have at the ground floor a Rowena's branch where heart-warming delicacies are available.

After our breakfast, Mark and I got back to our room to change and get ready for a morning dip.

A view of the pool from the floor lobby of our room.

The pool was big enough and there is a shallow area which is perfect for kids. There were also some tables and chairs and sun-loungers for those who opt to just sit back and enjoy the cool breeze and view.

The morning breeze was cold but since we already saw how these kids were enjoying the pool, Mark and I thought that the water was warm enough. Since Mark would never let this moment pass without having his 'body shot', we took a dip.

The kids were amazed at Mark's body, they even posed with him haha! :p

But no! The water was really cold, uhm no, it was freezing! We just lasted a little less than 5 minutes in the pool.  We just took some photos and hurriedly clothed ourselves hahaha! :p

Our dining experience at C2 Classic Cuisine was not something to rave about, but the rest of our stay at Summit Ridge Hotel was definitely superb!
