Aila’s Birthday

Last January 9 we went to McDonald's Libis to accompany Jaoey for his classmate's birthday party.

Jaoey and Aila

Jaoey enjoyed a lot especially during the parlor games where he won a lot of prizes. But my mom claims that it was I who enjoyed the most especially when the mascots came out haha! I just got so thrilled seeing the mascots that I immediately asked my mom to take a photo of us. ^_^

Happy Birthday Chino!

Last January 13 my brother Chino turned 26. We celebrated his birthday with my family and with Mark and Jeff.

My dad cooked these for lunch:

Crispy Pata
Seafood Kare-kare
Bopis
Pancit Canton

And I bought these for merienda...
desserts3
cake, ice cream, fruit salad

After merienda the videoke was setup and we started singing, but it was Mark who was singing non-stop! Haha! :P We also had a few shots of my dad's Johnnie Walker Black Label Scotch Whisky after dinner.

Lunch at Home

Losing weight has been on top of almost everbody's new year's resolution. Although I didn't get to eat much during the holidays because of my braces, one of my goals for this year is to get back into shape too. ;p

Mark and I workout together and we also do boxing sometimes. I also run and do some aerobics/taebo with my mom on Saturdays. I've also been watching what I eat. I don't eat rice and I also take it easy on chips, sweets, and fatty food.

But how can you resist eating when you're served with mouth-watering dishes? Like what my dad cooked earlier for lunch...

Cream Dory Steak

Breaded Pork Chop

Mixed Vegetables in Butter Sauce

I tried but I really can't! And well yeah, I gave in..Haha!

My Lunch ^_^

I also had a slice of brazo de mercedes for dessert! *drools* Actually these are just a few of the many mouth-watering dishes that my dad loves to cook for us. And every time he cooks, I just can't help but forget about my diet (this also happens to Mark whenever he comes over our house to have lunch or dinner hahaha!).

But it's ok, I'll just get back to my diet tomorrow and will just do some extra rounds of running on Saturday! Haha! :P

World Chicken & Big Chill

Almost every Friday, Mark and I would head straight to the Gateway mall after work to watch a movie or just to have dinner. And as what I've said in an old post, we would usually eat at World Chicken. And guess what?  Just last Friday, there we were again, having dinner at his favorite resto! :P

Mark loves eating at World Chicken so much because he doesn't have to deprive himself of eating tasty food just to stay in shape. World Chicken offers a variety of healthy dishes that very much suits his diet.

Whatever his diet may be, if he's prepping up for an upcoming competition, or if he just feels like eating non-stop, World Chicken will surely appeal to his taste buds.

For around Php160, you can indulge into their freshly grilled boneless chicken, with your choice of sauce, plus 2 generous servings of sides.

Mark would usually opt for either gravy or Ranch BBQ sauce on his chicken, with baked potato wedges and potato salad for the sides.

But when he's not on a diet, he can go for Mashed Potato and Fettuccine Al Tono as side dishes. I also remember one time, he must have been craving so much for rice, when he opted for the Bacon Fried Rice and Garlic Rice as side dish.

And I, being the not-so-risk-taker-when-it-comes-to-trying-something-new, would always go for gravy on my grilled chicken with Fettuccine Al Tono and Potato Salad as side dish. ^_^

And for the drinks, fruit shakes will always be Mark's choice. I would usually go for Mango, Melon, Lychee, or Melon-Mango shake. :)

And as for Mark, well he's never really picky when it comes to fruit shakes, just as long as it tastes good when combined with Whey Protein of course! Oh my! What a health buff?! Haha! :p

I will be meeting with Mark in a few minutes..hmmm..I wonder where we'll be eating tonight..Hahaha! ^_^

Persia Grill

I had a lunch date with Mark on my birthday last January 3. I didn't really have any restaurant in mind so I thought of leaving it all up to Mark. But when I asked him where he wanted to eat, he immediately said "World Chicken!" and before I could even say a thing, he started laughing! Whew! I really thought he was serious haha!

Since we're always in the Araneta Center, I suggested that we try it out in some restaurants at The Block - SM North. We both had a hard time in choosing where to eat. We've passed by almost every restaurant but we still can't figure out where to eat. Haha! We then got into the Sky Garden and were both captivated by the charm of the Persia Grill. It's a floating (in water) restaurant stationed at the center of the Sky Garden.

We both haven't tried out any Persian dish so we both agreed to try it out this time. It took us a while to decide what to order because all the dishes in the menu looked really yummy. I ordered Beef Biryani and Mark got Grilled Lamb Chops with Dolmeh. We also ordered Must O'Khiar as appetizer. We were supposed to have their house shakes and juices but unfortunately they were unavailable that time so we just opted for a pitcher of their raspberry iced tea.

We got so hooked in taking pictures that we didn't notice that our orders haven't arrived yet. I was starting to get annoyed because we had to call the waiter's attention and follow up our orders a lot of times.

The drinks were served first. I was expecting something special since it was a little costly, but this is what we got. It didn't even come in stylish glasses! Hmp! :p

Mark's order came next. At first I thought we were given the wrong dish, but the staff confirmed that it was ours. I just can't see any resemblance of it from the one in the menu.

Grilled Lamb Chops with Dolmeh (Persian-style-rice-stuffed Bell Pepper)

Then came my order. And again, it looked very much different from the one in the menu. It looked like buttered rice with yogurt and Persian sauce on the side.

Beef Biryani

Wondering where the Beef is? You just have to into the buttered rice!

Beef Biryani (after digging into the hill of buttered rice!)

And oh, didn't I mention that we ordered some appetizers? It arrived last! The waiter must have forgotten what appetizers are for! I was trying to control my temper so as not to ruin the lunch but honestly, I am starting to get annoyed and I'm starting lose my appetite, I swear! Especially when another plain looking dish is right in front of you...

Must O'Khiar (Pita Bread with Cucumber, Garlic, and Persian Yogurt Dip)
Oh, so that's what Must O'Khiar means..I thought it meant "not so appetizing appetizer!" :|

Well fine, I said to myself, I shouldn't be judging this early..as I still haven't tasted the food yet. And guess what? The food didn't really look good, and it didn't even taste good at all!

The spices in the Persian sauce in my Beef Biryani were too overpowering and the rice was not well cooked. Mark was kind of enjoying his food, and seeing how disappointed I was, he offered that we switch dishes. But oh well, I didn't like his food too! The bell pepper rice was a major no no for me! And the lamb chops, ugh!, it still had some fresh blood, even if Mark requested for it to be cooked well done. I also didn't like the appetizer but I had no choice because I still haven't eaten that day. I finished all the small pita bread slices but I am still not full so I ordered for their classic shawarma, hoping that this would save my day..but no, it just added up to all the dismay!

What a wrong move! I should have just gave in to Mark's first suggestion! Good thing there's still merienda and dinner. World Chicken really saved our day! ^_^
